Stayed warm on a trip to Alaska

SusanJune 19, 2025

I bought this for a trip to Alaska in early March (the calendar said it was spring, but it felt like it was still winter). For context, I live in South Florida, so to say that I am not used to cold weather would be an understatement. I think the trip was just that much more enjoyable thanks to this vest. For the most part, temperatures were never above 30°F, and one night we went out to watch the northern lights (which was amazing!), and I found myself standing around outside for a significant amount of time despite a temperature of -22°F. For my Floridian self, the fact that I could even tolerate weather this cold I attribute fully to this heated vest. I saw reviews saying that the vest only lasted a week, however since my Alaska trip was one week long, that was all I needed. I wore it everyday and had no problems with its performance throughout the trip. I will admit that I have not had occasion to wear it again since, and even if it doesn’t work anymore, I would still consider it money well spent for that one week that it was necessary. To be honest, if I do another winter trip in which it could be of use, if it doesn’t work anymore, I will buy a new one. I liked that the size of this vest can be adjusted to accommodate various body shapes, and it fit comfortably and with no issues with any of the zippers (including those used to adjust the size). It was easy to shut off when inside and turn back on when outside again, and it comes with 3 heat settings that were easily changed depending on the temperature and my activity level on any particular day. The price of the vest I found to be quite reasonable, however once adding in the battery pack, the cost did add up. Even so, this was a great investment, and I highly recommend it for anyone who plans to spend any time outside in the winter. *This review was made in good faith based on my personal experience with the product. The seller did not request that I write this review, and I received no monetary or non-monetary compensation for this review. Read more

A Great quality product, period!

Mario EscovarJanuary 3, 2020

I am amazed at DrPrepare's new line of products. I now own 4 of them, and their innovation, quality, and designs are nothing short of amazing. This Heated Vest is no different and follows their quality and design pattern. We live in Florida and the assumption is that there would not be a need for this product here, but not in my case. My wife is still having Hot Flashes and loves to keep our Air Conditioner way below normal my comfort in our home. Enter this product, and the case (and arguments about the thermostat) is solved. The vest is beautifully designed and extremely well finished with durability in mind. Smart zipper feature on each side to adjust its size, however, if your waist is over 43 in, (which I am), you may find a bit snug or uncomfortable. The side pockets are a bit shallow but have zippers, so when keeping your phone in them, make sure to close the zipper so it doesn't slip out. The electronic part is controlled by an easily accessible push button (pictured) in the front of the vest; well designed and convenient and easy to operate. I did not have the chance to test how much power is needed during its operation or how long a battery charge would last on the average portable charger, however, after 5 mins. from turning on, the unit goes into an Auto mode which regulates the heat from high to medium to low, as needed. There is no thermostat or any precise temperature control, but maybe in future models. I found the vest to be quite comfortable to wear, as well as the heating feature. Excellent, clear instructions are sawn on the inside of the vest, so they are always available should you need them. Would I buy this product again? a resounding Yes!! Read more

The heating zones don't hit thoracic area and can't turn off neck zone

Sapphy11February 1, 2020

As for adjustability, this vest is pretty good. As a female, I needed more room up top than I did on my hips and mid-section. it looked rather masculine on me. I got around this by closing the side zippers on Large, then using 4 medium/large VERY CAREFULLY placed safety pins 2 on each side) on my waist side (to make those areas "medium")....and it looks much for feminine now! I would love to give this 5 stars...unfortunately, it doesn't allow you to turn off the heated zone on the neck (which was a bit too warm for me even on low). I tucked the collar completely under, but the wires run evenly across both sides of the material, so all that did was shift the heat from my neck to my very upper back (again, too warm even on low). If there were a way to allow the user to move the heating elements from the neck and put them into the middle (thoracic) section of the back, I would LOVE this vest! The alternative suggestion would be to allow the user to access the wires (hidden pockets?), so they can disconnect and reconnect certain sections as they would like. That said, I also bought the vinrooni one (which also had the heating elements in the wrong areas, and in much worse placement areas), and this one is thicker and higher quality, but it uses the smaller jacket zippers instead of the large heavy duty zippers that last forever (which the vinrooni one does). Another positive to this one is that the heating elements in the lower back and front pockets are AMAZING for all sorts of lower back AND belly/digestive/feminine cramping. It won't let me give it 4.5 stars, which I believe it deserves. While it could use some work, I would DEFINITELY still recommend it for someone who has osteoarthritis, or is just generally cold. The instructions make it sound more difficult to use than it is (or I never figured out how to use the "auto" mode. I held the button for 3 seconds, and it came on, and I clicked the button once to get to a color, then clicked once again to get to the next color, etc. Red was too hot for me...so I liked to rotate it between blue (medium), and green (low).
