I've been a big fan of the Playstation controller design since the original DualShock, and the DualSense is its finest form yet. But mine was looking and feeling a little rough after some nasty drops over the years. Didn't want to buy a whole new one, so I decided it was time for a replacement shell. I've already done a few other case swaps with ExtremeRate kits, and this one doesn't disappoint. Bear in mind, I didn't use any of the included buttons, so I had no need to disassemble the trigger mechanisms. But the rest of this kit came together perfectly easily. The DualSense is a surprisingly easy controller to take apart. Toughest part for me was changing out the touchpad, and all that took was some gentle persuasion with a spudger, I didn't even need to apply any heat. Visually, this is just what I hoped for. The translucent black plastic has a smoked glass aesthetic to it that I think looks even better in person. I love how the light bars filter through it. I used matte black touchpad and trim pieces, they complement the translucent parts perfectly. And I finished my build off with a set of black face buttons with old-school colored symbols. It feels perfectly solid, just as durable as the original shell. It all fits together perfectly flush, there's no creaking or looseness to it. Almost like my DualSense came off the factory line like this. In fact, they should just sell them this way out of the box! People would love it. Read more

The media could not be loaded. Looks great and somehow feels better than the original. It’s very solid and no longer creaky like my other OEM controllers. Does not look 3rd party in any way. If I hadn’t installed it myself, I’d never guess this wasn’t made by Sony. MPORTANT: Make sure you get the right shell for your controller. It doesn’t seem like it but there are different versions of the DualSense (they’re different on the inside). If you go to their website on your desktop, you can plug in your controller and it will tell you which version you have. Do some googling. Installation was a bit of a project but as long as you’re patient, gentle and carefully follow all the instructions in the video, it’s pretty straightforward and not hard at all. Take a deep breath and zen it out. Don’t rush. DIY can be very rewarding. I’d happily do it again to my other controllers. Make sure you have enough space and little containers to keep track of all the tiny parts. TIP: When it comes to detaching the touchpad with a heat gun, some unsightly glue residue will be stuck to the pad. Since the case is clear and we can see everything, we really want it gone. Goo-Gone took it right off. You won’t need to glue it back on, it sits securely on its own once you close it all up. At least for mine it didn't. If you think yours needs it, a light and even mist of spray glue will do the job. Overall, I’m very impressed. I highly recommend it! Read more

The media could not be loaded. Very happy with the product. Had an old white controller that my niece beat up. Instead of throwing away the older controller. I swapped shells. Now it’s my steam deck controller. Easy set up. Followed the QR code instructions. Took about 45 minutes. I don’t do these often. But was fun. I didn’t execute the swap 100 %. And did mess up. But the controller works for what I need it for now. And will get way more use out of it then I did before. Read more

So you know that scene where someone is trying to steal the plans for a top secret device that can only be replicated with nothing but the original plans, well I feel like something similar went done when making this case. I’ve worked with cars and body kits and only the real expensive ones fit like a glove and still need some work, not the case with this product. The installation was simple and finished it with the additional buttons in about less that an hr, I recommend watching a video a couple time to get familiar with what and where to pry. Blue tabs pull out, brown tabs pull out but don’t loose the white pieces as they’re only held by pressure and become loose, you’ll see what I mean. I kept the original triggers and black middle plate to keep it a little Sony but everything else was swapped, make sure to use the black bracket that holds the touch pad as it’s different from the original. Not a single piece out of place and the cuts on the casing were clean and little to no stranding or discoloration. All in all it feels better and looks awesome and unique. Def recommend. Read more

CAUTION!: make sure that it’s a certain kind of controller by referring to the picture; pop the R1/L1 bumpers and see if it’s the same frame, if not, the triggers will not be compatible. It’s a good shell but it’s pretty smooth, not as much grip as the original shell and a bit fragile but I like it and it looks nice with the metal buttons! Read more

Great looking shell. Could not get the new touchpad part working. No matter what it’s constantly pressed once you assemble the shell. You’re better off keeping the original part instead of having to reassemble it 10+ times trying to get it to fit. Read more

Make sure you have the correct model for the shell you order and know going in that this is a full tear down basically to reassemble , not hard but is lengthy . The quality is great and I love the feel better than the stock shell . Triggers work great. If you don’t like the instructions they provide I highly suggest the ifixit site. Also if you want a cleaner looking touchpad I would clean it and apply a new adhesive . Read more

My controller looks amazing, they included all the tools you would need to make this install easy and it feels as durable as the original controller. Everything was the perfect size except the buttons need to be a little big higher so you don’t bottom out on the controller shell. The removal process was easy the only part I had trouble with was removing the touch pad from the old case with the glue. 10/10 will be buying more shells later to customize my other controllers Read more
