Smart Home Plugs Done Easy

Double LOctober 12, 2025

Geeni smart plugs are a great smart plug if you’re in the market to make your home smart. I own several of these and they work flawlessly. Also they work with Alexa and Google Home. I love you set a schedule for the plugs to cut on and off. Build quality is solid and I would and have recommended these. Read more

products & customer service

The media could not be loaded. I’ve purchased 22 Geeni WiFi plug-in outlets of various models inclusive of single, double, 4-switch, several 6-switch outlet strips, and 2 outdoor models as well. They work very well and reset when power goes down. That being said, the only issue I’ve had is due to Spectrum internet constantly dropping which gave two of my Geeni units problems with missed on/off times. Since I’ve switched to Alta fiber 1Gb service with 4 Amazon Eeros mesh 6e units. The combination of eeros with fiber allows for a seamless operation with zero problems. The better your network, the stronger consistent symmetrical up/down use with no throttling back. I highly recommend the Geeni & Eeros products. I’ve not been paid for this review, this is on my own perceptions of everyday use. Alta Fiber also uses Eeros routers for their customer based service installs. UPDATE: October 25, 2025 The first failure of one of my Geenie single round WiFi outlets has occurred with device resetting failure. After sending Merkury Innovations all of the information they have asked for, I am still waiting for their warranty department to send me a replacement as they stated they would. Customer service and replacement is slow to respond as it has been 2 weeks since initial information has been given. They make you go through informational hoops with model number, photos, a video of the issue, and more. UPDATE 11/8/25: Received a two-pack replacement, so all is fine. Wished they would have been more transparent with replacement-shipping info or an email would have been nice. They had my phone number as well, but again, no updates. Read more

Great function except just slightly too big.

Very straight forward. Simple setup, especially if you already have the app and login created. Only downside is I can't seem to fit two on a single outlet. Read more

Geeni Dot smart plug

CustomerDecember 11, 2025

I have 8 of these Geeni Dot smart plugs and couldn’t be happier with them. They are easy to set up and the Geeni app is easy to use. I use them for lamps, and for Christmas lights. It’s nice to have all the lights come on at the same time and go off at the same time. Can also be turned on manually which is nice. Read more

Don't buy this model unless you don't mind losing use of adjacent outlet

Gen ArisApril 14, 2021

TERRIBLE physical design/sizing of this item! Unlike other Merkury/Geeni smart plugs which were/are horizontal bars in shape that permitted 2 devices to be plugged in at same vertical 2 socket receptacles common in USA--these round plugs are so large that only slim, 2-pronged cords may be plugged in to the other outlet next to this device; nightlights, any kitchen or other appliance or device such as surge strips and extension cords with 3-prong ground plugs won't fit physically above or below this round smart plug in the same receptacle--meaning you're likely going to lose one of the 2 sockets in the receptacle you plug this in, depending on what kind of thing you want to use in the other socket. UGH, just thoughtless, poor design! Did no human being plug this into a wall receptacle and try to plug a few commonly used items into the other socket? OBVIOUSLY NOT. DESIGN/SIZE/USABILITY GRIPES ASIDE, does this device work? YES, like the above mentioned horizontal bar-shaped smart plugs I already had from Geeni/Merkury Innovations, THESE use the Geeni app to join up to your home network and can be thereafter controlled by the app, and work fine with Alexa-driven smart speaker devices, and are normally very quick & easy to connect up. So, these work great in my experience and are straightforward to setup & use. Unfortunately though, I don't recommend this particular model because they are simply too large to plug 2 of them into the same receptacle, and too large to permit many other electrical devices (particularly 3 prong plugged-items) to plug in next to it. I would say the Geeni brand devices I have used so far have been fine, but as for these round plugs, just look for their other smart plug offerings in a different shape & size, unless you don't mind potentially losing the other socket in the receptacle you plug this into. I saw in the pictures these were round instead of bar-shaped, but it never entered my mind they'd be too large to sit next to each other (or many other device plugs) in a 2-socket receptacle. I just can't believe, in this day and age after people complaining for years about big, socket-hog wall wart designs, that any aspirational company would launch a poorly-sized smart plug. Surely 1/4inch could have been shaved in design & prototyping stage...it's so small but would have made these good neighbors in sockets instead of hogs & socket-blockers. Read more
