I got this as a gift for my son who was graduating from college and moving into his own place for the first time. It is a nice starter set and good value for the money. I love the block as it safely stores all the knives so you do not need to put them into a drawer. Are these chef quality? no. These are starter knives, perfect for someone just getting started on their own. I am sure they will last the year or so needed until he is more established and doing more cooking where he will want to get more chef quality knives. Until then, this is the perfect solution. The knife block set works well. The knives are very sharp, and I had no issues with cutting even the hardest of veggies like carrots. One thing I don't like is that they are not dishwasher safe, so these are not knives I am going to use to cut meat. My husband accidentally sent one through the dishwasher and it came out with rust spots on it. However, if you need a cheap knife set this one is a good value; they just take extra care. Read more

I got this set when I was furnishing my kitchen and needed something quick and affordable. It includes everything I typically reach for when prepping meals, but the materials feel light and less durable than I’d prefer. The handles are made of plastic, which feels cheap and adds to the overall lightweight impression. I’ve had to touch up the blades more often than I thought I would. Keeping them in good shape takes some work, especially since they’re not dishwasher safe and need to be dried right away. I do like that the block keeps things compact and organized on the counter. For light cooking, it’s serviceable, but it’s not something I’d recommend if you cook daily or want something more durable. Read more

On Amazon this wooden block of knives is $40 (May 2025), while most start at $70. So is there a reason this one is so much cheaper? YES. Hollow knife handles of plastic, all the steak knives are serrated (traditionally they are straight edged and that makes them more useful than just to cut steak), and they cannot be washed in a dishwasher. So with all that, this has to be a pass right? Well, no. For the price, the blades are sharp, the wood block is quality and, in the short time we have had them, all indicators are that they are durable if properly treated. So, no, not a hard pass at all. This falls into "you get what you pay for". They are not impressive, they are not for a serious chef, but they are utilitarian and useful. Read more

This block has a great assortment of knives including 2 pairs of shears and a decent bread/melon knife. We also like the little bumpers on the bottom to keep it raised up off the counter a bit. Read more

First to start off so far. The price being about $40 makes this the affordable choice. When shipped they have these cool bumpers for safety. All of the items were packaged up separately but oddly not the smaller set of scissors. The block is a nice smooth lighter wood color, looks like on table with the knives. It is slightly easy to accisnetlaly stab with the knives so be wary of that. The knives are not too sharp, so less worry than some of the uber sharp, almsot scary sharp types. Id rather have this set than a professional set if I had kids or say I was renting a place & providing cutlery. This might be a good gift for new homeowners as it is suitable to use. Especially works if someone does not have a dishwasher since you cannot place these in one. Handwash only! That is somewhat of a painstaking factor. I already have some nice professional knives with real wood handles that need that extra time & care. Im not too into adding my platci knives to that chore. There are directions in a note stating docnotnuse in dishwasher, but also stated on some of the knives. That was a little surprising, I had no idea plastic handle type cutlery, couldn't be used in a dishwasher. I know its terrible to use the ones with real wood like I shared. My guess these must not manage the high heat. Large nice steak knives & decent butcher knife. Serated ones are a little less even in sharpness Read more
