I took awhile to review this because I wanted to get a good sample size of usage. For years, I've been purchasing the brand name Samsung filter, which has recently exploded in price! I have a Samsung stainless steel refrigerator that is approximately 3 years old, and is our only source of drinking water. The generic filters out there have too many horror stories for me to take the risk of using a non-Samsung brand. However, when I read the initial reviews for this filter by K&J, I was encouraged to take a leap, especially as the price was amazing compared to Samsung. Side-by-side, this filter and the Samsung versions are almost identical, especially the vital connector. I installed this filter in a few seconds, as it snapped right in without any leaking. I think that it actually went in easier than the brand name ones. I ran a gallon of water through my fridge water dispenser to prime this filter. I'm very impressed with the water pressure, taste, and filtration! My wife believes that she has a refined water palate, and will not hesitate to say something as soon as the filter begins to fade or something isn't quite right with our water. She approves!! I'm so relieved that I've found this filter, and can stop paying full price. After a month, water is still great, and no leaks or issue of any kind. 2 month update: Filter still working as described. Looking at this filter, you think how is this going to work. And I admonished myself for choosing the cheaper option. At half the price of one filter from Samsung, whats to lose? Right? samsung original has three o-rings where this only has two, of course a leak is a real worry. Especially since samsung warns their warrantee is void if you use another's product. So of course I'm somewhat worried that this will be an issue. Samsung's filter fit perfect and there is no space between the sides of the opening for the filter. This is not true of this filter, but it goes in easily, and works just as well as the Samsung filter. Risk was worth it. Filter works well. Water tastes great. Read more
Been using these for years now for our samsung fridge. I know they’re working… I live in north suburbs of Atlanta and sometimes domestic water supply gets churned up and the filter is only good for about two months (can taste water when filter no longer filtering)(family of 4 using it). Under normal circumstances we get 4-5 months on each filter. Read more
I purchased this filter online in order to compare it to the Samsung brand filter that is recommended for my French Door Samsung Refrigerator. I did a lot of research prior to purchasing it and did compare it to the other more expensive filters that are on the web. I went to the K&J website and further read up on how they make this filter in order to be sure that I would get great tasting water despite having spent half the cost of most other comparable filters. I went with the K&J filter not only because it was considerably less expensive than the others, but because of the double O Ring that is placed on the filter connection. After reading other reviews I was concerned with buying an off brand due to leakage. Still, this filter seemed to have overwhelmingly positive reviews and so I took a chance. With Amazon's return policy, I figured I could return it if unsatisfied. I've been using the filter for a week now. It was easy to install and I did purge it of two gallons of water after installation as I think that is key to having a no drip experience. This filter does a good job of filtering the water and I am satisfied with the taste. I had and still have no drip issues at all. Do not be afraid to purchase this item due to it's cheaper price point. I would recommend buying it. After reading several reviews I decided to use this filter, which is not the cheapest but is less than half what the OEM replacement would have cost. A physical comparison (visual only - I didn't use a micrometer) showed it was identical in form. Replacement was quite simple. I did not turn off the water supply, and although that may have not been best practice, it didn't cause any issues. The only issue was when I set out to run water through the filter the air from the dry filter caused a surge of spray from the water outlet which I had to dry up from the floor, the front of the fridge, and myself. Not a big deal, but I thought you should be cautioned. I did run a bit more than a gallon of water through the system before the tiny bubbles cleared up; not that they would be a problem if I chose to drink them. Excellent OEM substitute ... so far so good . I've had the product a week , and the water quality is very good . I've used Samsung brand filters in my fridge for the first 2 years , then this last year I've discovered Non-Oem brand replacents on Amazon . THis one has proved (so far ) to be the better one . - No loud noise ! - No loss of pressure, or excessive back pressure on the electric valve (its something you can actually hear on a bad filter ) After receiving the product (very quick ) I installed it and did the customary charcoal flush , but interestingly enough , did not see the greyish color seen with other filters ! As a peace of mind I flushed 2 gallons and started using the water . I looks clear , odorless and no bad or wierd taste . With other non-Brand filters ( i tired 3 different brands ) one had a lot of grey discharge at first , another brand was extremely constricted and has a very slow and thin stream , and the third really didn't impress me, but I ran across this brand , and likes the reviews and overal valur that I decided to try it out . I am glad I did ! So far I am very pleased . I will update in 30 days or so if in Notice a change in quality or pressure . Read more
