My favorite Guy—February 5, 2025
I have very little to complain about with this coffee maker. It has the strong setting which is as advertised...it makes good strong coffee from beginning to end. The user interface is simple, intuitive, and easy to work right out of the box. The only thing I wish it had would be a stainless steel carafe instead of glass. It automatically turns off in two hours, but when the coffee sits on the burner for that time it can get burned. I don't make big pots, so it's not a big deal. The thing I most love about it is the timer. It is my favorite thing to wake up to a pot of coffee just sitting there ready to be poured. Read more

I really missed my old coffee maker. It was simple, the right size, had auto shut off and worked fast. Unfortunately it is no longer made and since I lost it in a move 25 years ago, I have tried everything but never got the right combo of flavor and really hot water to deliver that cup that just hit all the key points. I figured I would give this one a try because I rarely need to make more than a few cups and this looked simple and cheap. Guess what—it totally delivers. The coffee (a local specialty food store blend I have been using for 30 years) was smooth but bold with no bitterness or acidity. I hadn’t had that exact taste and warmth for a long time. As an added bonus, this has a timer, so you can wake up to a great fresh brewed cup. Read more

This is not only a beautiful coffee maker, but it makes the most flavorful coffee ever! It brews quickly and the coffee is nice and hot. My favorite coffee is blueberry, which only a few 7 Elevens sell. Anyway, I also appreciate being able to use the Melitta #4 natural coffee filters, which never fold over like the round basket ones I used with other coffee makers. It beeps when the coffee is done which isn't a big deal and I've gotten used to it, since it's the same sound as the instant pot. I also appreciate that it will turn off after a certain amt. of time, maybe 2 hours? I'm very happy with this coffee maker!! Read more
The Untangler—June 2, 2025
I bought this coffeemaker to replace a similar Cuisinart that had two terrible "features": a detached carafe lid that fell off constantly and "hidden" water levels. I kept a flashlight next to the Cuisinart to try to see the water level. Not good. So what about this Kenmore? Pros: Makes a very cup of coffee. This is, after all, what is most important. The carafe lid stays on! I can see the water levels (yeah!). I have had no trouble with any drips when pouring from the carafe, but the wide lip is not going to be to everyone's taste. The red coffeemaker makes it very easy to see what needs to be cleaned. This is actually a pretty nice incidental feature. It does have auto shutoff, although I always pour up and turn off after every pot. It has a 1-4 cup option, which is nice, but see below for incorrect instructions. It makes a great dark, rich full pot of coffee, too. The steam is venting from the FRONT of the coffeemaker unlike most others, which is great because it keeps the steam farther away from the cabinets. It is very simple to use. Cons: Drips when you try to pour a cup during the brew cycle, but in fairness, I've never owned a coffeemaker that didn't and I had one of the original Mr Coffee machines, the ones that had two switches (one for brewing and one for the hot plate). Cheap plastic all around. The red is a kind of bright, cheesy color. I wish it were a darker red. See photo. The noise if unreal. The five beeps when the brew cycle ends are loud enough to wake the dead. The brewing itself sounds like a boiling cauldron! The instruction manual contains a mistake. It says you have to turn the 1-4 cup option on AFTER you turn on the brew cycle (page 7); that is exactly backwards. You must push the 1-4 cup option BEFORE you push the START/STOP button. Weird error. Neutral: I had originally given the coffeemaker bad marks for the basket because the little lift handle will get in the way when you dump the grounds if you are not careful. However, after using it for a while, my husband and I agree it's not a problem. We have trained ourselves to hold the handle down (see...even very old dogs can learn new tricks!). Moreover, the filter basket has a big advantage over the Cuisnart and others we've used: it pops back into place without any of the usual finagling other baskets require. Also, the wider lip on the carafe is something some people will like and others will not. That's a matter of preference, not a Pro or a Con. Nothing is perfect. Except the simplehuman Wall Mount Paper Towel Holder, a masterpiece in design simplicity and ergonomics. Bottom line: the Kenmore coffeemaker is a very good, reasonably priced option that makes a good cup of coffee. Just be careful emptying the filter basket! Read more

THE best coffee maker I’ve bought in many years. I originally stayed away because it’s a little more than others BUT it’s worth every penny. I love every single feature, how the handle on the pot feels in my hands, etc etc etc etc. I’m tempted to buy another because I love the red color mixed with silver just to have as a spare. Read more

I am in love with this because the red goes perfectly in my red kitchen. And although I only ever make four cups at a time, there is a nice button especially for smaller amounts! The fact that it is programmable & goes on when I wish, so the coffee is ready when I get up in the morning, is just an added bonus! Read more

I bought this so it would be a match for my Kenmore toaster. On that level, it's perfect. It's kind of a burgundy red which is great for me. I don't want nor will I use the programmability features. During the summer, I max it out and make five iced coffees to refrigerate. When it's cold out, though, I just want one cup (16 oz) so i have to use a measuring cup see it register. That's just inconvenient, but not awful. The fact that it probably wakes the people on the International Space Station, though, is a huge problem. Seriously. I have a tropical bird that has to sleep 12 hours/day. I have to plug this in the night before because it's deafening. I feel sorry for my neighbors. At least that's just one beep. Once it's brewed the 16 oz, it goes off four times. I have to stand with thing thing so I can pull the plug on the unit as soon as it goes off. Particularly bad if I have company staying. I wait with my hand on the plug, ready to pull Still, they're going to have to hear the first part of the first beep. If I was sleeping when that happened, I'd go into cardiac arrest. This should seriously be changed. I would gleefully cut the wire to the alarm if I knew how to do it without wrecking the coffee maker. Read more
