Okay so I have only owned this for about 4 hours but I have to say I like this much more than the cordless Dyson (which cost a fortune and only lasted a couple years). it has great suction, an easy to empty container and the filter seems to really work well. It fits my needs perfectly. I live in a small apartment (1200 sq ft) so having a large vacuum is unnecessary. This compact unit has lots of power and enough space in the container to do a good cleaning of the place 2-3 times before emptying (but come on just empty it when you are done). the attachments for the floor are sufficient for my place and the brush/nozzle are small which allows me to get into the edges and corners well. It's light enough to hold while I clean out my bathroom fan/vent without straining. I read the one star reviews and I have to say I disagree with them completely. I can imagine their expectations may have been unrealistic or perhaps they didn't read the description. It's a small unit so it goes without saying the attachments are small as well. Yes it is a plastic unit so if you act like a barbarian it will break along with the attachments. I hope to have this little work horse for years to come (btw I got the amazon extended warranty just in case). I will come back with an update if there are problems, but I doubt there will be. This unit is replacing an 8 year-old model #107 that bit the dust. It might have lasted longer, had I remembered to change the air filter once! This models has a new rug attachment that works okay for low profile rugs. I doesn't clean quite at well as a heavy-duty kenmore for rugs with a motorized attachment. This light weight unit works great for all my hardwood floors since it is easily manueuvered & carried upstairs. You do forfeit a larger dusting attachment with this unit, but that's about the only shortcoming. I mostly use a microfiger cloth for dusting now. I do miss the quarter round dusting feature that was on the old floor attachment; however, this new model seems to provide better floor suction. Emptying the dust bin is a cinch; just do it like the manual explains. I expect this unit to last 8-9 years like all of my old Kenmore vacuums. Overall, it's well designed for it's intended purpose. Perfect size for my small apartment with many nooks and crannies. Suction is very good. Includes all the features I wanted out of a canister vacuum such as lightweight, long hose, expanding wand, variable suction settings, easy maneuverability around furniture and in hard to reach areas and retractable cord. My only negative is that the floor brush appears to be made of a lesser quality plastic then the remainder of the vacuum and I am not confident it will stand the test of time. Read more

Update after several weeks: I'm done with this vacuum. Buying a new one today. It's now whistling at a high pitch, and yes I checked it for lint or hair plugs, cleaned it all down to the last filter. The wheels now start falling off, the suction is greatly diminished, and emptying the bin has become a chore. I bought Kenmore vacuums way back when I first got married, last millenium. They cost a bit more but we had a Sears credit card and they lasted a long time. This one is a disappointment. 1. The plastic head does not lie flat on the carpet and is too stiff to rotate so half the time the head is not in contact with the rug. 2. The carpet brush picks up hair ok but within one vacuuming session, the brush is now covered with it and I guess I need to use a knife to cut it off. 3. The metal tube of the hose keeps slipping out off the plastic handle while vacuuming, I guess some duct tape will fix that but I had hoped to not have to hack my new purchase right away. 3. Emptying the dust bin is awkward. You have to disconnect the hose, then be very careful of detaching the bin or you can vacuum again right after and inside the cavity as well, then slide a cleaning thingy across the filter - and the opening of the dust bin was bigger than the opening of my trashcan and I got everything all over. 4. It cleans better than my old vacuum, which cost a third of this one, but they all do when first purchased. However, it is also twice as heavy. 5. I guess vacuum attachments are no longer interchangeable, this Kenmore has a different hose diameter than my old one, I was hoping to use the head of my old one ... Supplement after using the vac for several weeks: It only works ok right after cleaning the canister, my flat bedroom rug is apparently not within the capacity of this vacuum, a stiff bristle broom works besser, the brush head is completely clogged with fuzz just after using it three times, I don't have the time to take a pair of scissors and clean that thing all the time. I am very much disappointed in this vacuum, wish I hadn't thrown away my old one already!!! Read more
