Keychron has made most of my favorite mechanical keyboards. I was drawn to them in 2020 because they're made with Mac in mind. Their offerings have multiplied since then, and I think their quality has improved. When I saw the Keychron Q5 Pro for sale on Amazon in *purple* at a big discount, I hastily added to cart. It turns out Keychron has discontinued the Pro version in favor of their new Max version, so this beauty was a bargain. I wouldn't say it's inexpensive, but for what you get, if you're a keyboard aficionado, I think it's a good deal. At the time I'm writing this review, the price is $175.99. This is a breathtakingly gorgeous keyboard. If you love purple and you're looking for a new mechanical keyboard with a numerical pad, this is a top tier choice. I haven't seen many purple keyboards, at least none with such a rich, deep hue. I'm a big fan of Keychron's spherical keycap profile, which they call KSA. As a touch typist, I find this shape of keys easier to type on than the standard OEM or Cherry profile, and lower profile than SA. They just feel satisfying to use, which makes me want to keep typing. Like all Keychrons, it came with option and command keys already on the keyboard, but they do include alt and Windows keycaps in the box for non-Mac users. The legends on these double-shot PBT keys are bold and attractive. My Q5 Pro has banana switches, which are tactile. They're quieter than clicky switches but I find them just as practical for typing. The sound dampening materials certainly help with that. For those who have limited space but need the functionality of a numerical pad, this model is as practical as it is attractive. It sacrifices almost nothing to achieve the smaller footprint; there's even a full-sized zero key on the numpad, which makes 10-keying much easier to do with fewer mistakes. The LEDs are RGB and south-facing, which means you get to see plenty of light glowing under the keys, which are not shine-through. There are lots of light effects to choose from, with adjustable brightness. QMK/VIA software means this keyboard is customizable. I haven't used that feature so far, but it's good to have. It's easily my favorite keyboard. I might as well sell or give away all my others. :) Read more

This keyboard is absolutely wonderful! Purple is my fav color so that’s plus #1, I love the colorful backlight sequences, and the red switch version of this product is ideal for desk job office settings! Although there is a slight “clickity clackity” sound, it’s not anywhere close to being obnoxiously loud, annoying, or bothersome to co workers. The instruction manual is very easy to understand, and the optional customizations are simple to set up. It’s a standard size keyboard, so not too large at all. The keys feel very soft and smooth. So if you’re a heavier, more aggressive typer, this may not be for you. The weight of this keyboard is quite heavy, but that may be because of its aluminum build; that doesn’t really bother me, though. I got what I paid for, it works as it should, and I believe it’s worth the money. Read more

Absolutely love the color and the keyboard, I've been looking for this for months and when it went on sale I couldn't pass it up! At first I wasn't sure I would like the Banana Switches, but they sound fantastic, with no issues! Read more

SOLID keyboard but also very heavy. Weighing in at just under 5lbs, this is by far the heaviest keyboard I've ever touched. Banana switches are very satisfying without being overly clicky sounding. This is my second Keychron keyboard and both have delivered absolute quality. Read more

I love this board. It’s built very well, the caps are nice, and it’s beautiful. I would give it a 5/5 if they included some deadening foam because this board is super pingy due to the all metal build. I had to order some separately because it was super annoying. Now, it sounds great. The flex on the board was a bit jarring, but this is my first gasket mounted board, and I’ve gotten used to it. Read more

This is the perfect mechanical keyboard. Has the option for Bluetooth or wired connection. Color is great and there's a true weight to it. It's definitely not a great portable keyboard - just for office spaces. Read more

Quietly thocky keyboard that's very heavy duty. I've been using this for about 2 months for work. No complaints about this so far. Haven't had to swap the switches yet, but will review if I decide to do that! Read more

I love this keyboard. It is hefty, feels great when typing, and doesn't make a lot of noise. I love that I can switch out the keys from the switches to keycaps. The color is vibrant and beautiful and extends into even the cord. I bought it for work but i may end if leaving it in my home office. Or get another one... Read more
