I just got it installed and I'm happy with it so far. I wasn't sure how high to mount it, but I knew I wanted it high enough that I wouldn't hit my feet on the ground during any exercises. I ended up mounting it 7'10" from the ground, which leaves me 14" of head clearance from the ceiling (9'ceiling). I mounted the 2 outer brackets into studs with the provided lag bolts. Surprisingly, I hit a stud in one of the center brackets (top hole only) and ended up using toggle bolts for the remaining 3 center bracket holes. My one complaint would be that I thought the included bolts were toggle bolts and I wasted a good amount of time trying to mount them in my sheetrock. The instructions don't specify but I'm assuming they're actually concrete anchors. I was concerned at first that it wouldn't be secure, as toggle bolts aren't ideal for a pull up bar, but so far it seems very sturdy. If I have any issues in the future, I'll lag bolt the pull up bar to a 2x4 and lag bolt the 2x4 to the wall in studs. I can hop up to grab it, do knee / leg raises, pull ups, and kipping pull ups with no issues. I'm glad I got the version that came with grips. This is a great addition to my home office. Read more

The first thing that impresses is how heavy duty the bar is. There’s no doubt it can handle the 450-pound load — assuming, of course, it’s installed properly. I first expected to hang this over a 36 inch door. But the way the holes in the plates align, there was no way to get all the screws to fit properly on the header.. It turned out to be a "problem" with a better solution! I was able to hang it in the barn door frame as shown in the picture. This setup adds some unexpected versatility to the bar I think this bar will end up being used in a number of different and creative ways. Including adding exercise straps as well as being useful and working with other projects. Installation is pretty straightforward. It helps to drill the holes for the lag bolts. And it really helps to have a impact drill! to drill them in. And a box knife to cut through all the packaging! Read more
