This 10.5" Lodge Cast Iron Skillet is the perfect size for me and my family. It comes already seasoned which is nice for someone just starting out and learning about Cast Iron skillets. And the Red Silicone handle cover is perfect too. I would recommend this as a purchase for sure!!! 10 out of 10!! Read more

LOVE cooking with cast iron due to the heat retention and non-stick properties (after seasoning properly, of course). They do come preseasoned but because I like the dark black patina that comes with repeated seasoning and use, so I run it through 2 season/bake cycles and then the pans are safe for anyone to use. There are a few rules that you must follow with cast iron and as long as you follow them, you can hand these pans down through your generations. First: Season! I don't care if it comes preseasoned but do it anyway because you just don't know how well they preseasoned them. Second: IF you use soap, use it VERY sparingly and make sure it is well rinsed. I typically use just a dab of soap along with my chainmale scrubber. Third: Dry completely and I mean COMPLETELY! Then apply a small layer of oil and put away. Read more

I bought three of these to give as gifts. These are not only solid cast-iron skillets, but they are also deep, like for a frittata, quiche, or cornbread kind of deep. They come with an awesome silicone handle, so you don't burn your fingerprints off, and you can use the handle with any other pan. Excellent Lodge quality that you would expect. Read more

This van works great! So far I have been able to cook everything I want in it no problem. it came preseasoned it is way better already. I can have it cleaned up faster than my old ceramic pans. A few people mentioned what they thought was a defect from the factory. Lodge says it's a result of their preseason process. I've had mine a few weeks and mine is still there. This does not bother me. I received also had a small casting defect in the loop opposite the handle. This also does not bother me. The silicon sleeve/grip is absolutely worthless. It does not fit tightly on the handle and does not provide positive grip. I absolutely expect someone to drop the pan or have it flip over on them when trying to use the silicon sleeve. Walmart also sells these pans in various sizes without the silicon grip for less money. If you're interested in one of these, swing by and check them out. Then you can buy whatever you want without risk of getting something you did not expect. Read more

Love the product, but the red silicone handle came very dirty and a bit damaged. It’s cut all the way through, and was covered in dust/dirt Read more

This is a top line, well made skillet. However, their instructions for seasoning are wrong! Vegetable oil is not a good or even fair way to season a skillet. Been using them all my long life and bacon grease is by far the best for seasoning if you want a top grade nonstick skillet! Read more

Before ordering I had to do some detective work to determine which model of pan this is (the item number is altered to represent the fact that it's a pan + silicone handle grip). Turned out it was the very one I wanted, the 10.25" L8SK3, which at the time I ordered, was four or five dollars more expensive than this one that includes the six dollar handle. So for clarity, the one that comes with a six dollar bonus was selling for four+ dollars less than the pan that is sold by itself. Buying this model instead of the other seemed to be a no-brainer. Many reviews discuss the benefits of cast iron and offer tips for care (including initial seasoning, even for pre-seasoned pieces such as this one). Check them out for more info. For the purposes of my review, let me just say that this is a great, all-purpose, standard-size skillet that most kitchens would benefit from having. It's the one I reach for most often: perfect for browning a 1-lb. portion of ground beef, or cooking eggs for a family of four. I also have the 8" & 12" models from this same line, each of which serves its purpose in my kitchen. The 8" one is perfect for a 2-3 egg breakfast for one, while the much larger 12" one is handy for large-volume meals. I recently used the 12" model to make a 16-egg frittata that turned out wonderfully, with plenty of room to spare (I might try 24 eggs next time to have plenty of leftovers for breakfast & lunch). Before my 10.25" skillet arrived from amazon, I used the 12" to brown and season 1 lb. ground beef with 8 oz. of mushrooms, and a few onions & bell peppers. It dwarfed the meal and made me glad that the medium sized one was slated for delivery the next day. Next time I make tacos for my family of 4 I'll definitely reach for this 10.25" pan. My pan arrived in great condition. The bottom was free of bumps and sharp edges (I recently had to return a different model for this reason), very important to me because I use it on a glass top (taking care not to slide or drop it). The silicone handle grip seemed a little clumsy and oversized on this pan, but worked great on the 12" model. As a new customer of Lodge cast iron, I couldn't be happier with the pieces I've bought.
