This is the classic old school beater. I almost didn't get it because reviews said it was difficult to get the crank moving. Out of the box it was very stiff but I just ran it under warm water while turning the handle and it began to run smoothly. It seems heavy duty. I am no fan of plastic but those parts are good quality. Seems pretty good. Read more

Other than not being dishwasher safe, I have no complaints. This beater works quite well and is definitely built more solidly than a lot of the all-plastic beaters that are common here. I have no doubt that this one will last a decade or more. Read more

Great mixer, much sturdier than other reviewers would have you believe. The main gear is some type of heavy, chrome covered metal, probably cast aluminum but I can't tell for sure. One reviewer complained that the blade gears are plastic which is not quite accurate. They are actually heavy duty nylon, the same kind of nylon gear you will find in most garage door lifts. If those gears can raise a 300lb garage door thousands of time, this egg beater will out last me. The blades are heavy gage bent metal rods which mix well and are very easy to clean. The crank handle is made out of the same metal as the main housing and the main gear. This mixer is solid. Very pleased with this purchase, especially after discovering that almost no retail stores carry hand mixers anymore--not the grocery store, Target, Walmart etc. I did find one in this configuration with the handle on top at a hardware store, but it was nearly as expensive as this one, and plainly of inferior quality and design which may explain why nobody seems to carry this type of mixer anymore. The OXO hand mixer, which is the only other mixer I could find at retail was not suitable for me because of my OA; I need to have a handle that I can grip from above, not from the side. Read more

It’s very well made and sturdy but the only issue I have with it is the bottom bar across the two beaters hold the beaters off the bottom of the bowl. As a result if you are beating eggs, the egg whites hang onto this bar and do not get beaten in. In other words, the bar makes it sturdy but it is an issue if you use it primarily for eggs. Read more

Living in an apartment, I have limited space in a small kitchen and needed something that would perform well without taking up too much room. This manual egg-beater reminds me very much of the one that my mother had before the electric mixers became popular. I already tried it and it seems to do the job! What's really good is that I can even fit this manual egg beater/mixer in my utensils jar! There is a message taped to the handle not to put in the dishwasher, so do what cooks & bakers did in the 'old days'...wash by hand which is easy enough to do! Read more

I needed to replace an eggbeater so decided to try this. I'm probably never actually going to use it. Despite the description to the contrary, it is NOT to be put into the dishwasher. That's a pain. Worse though is the mechanism itself. It's just a 1:1 gear, right? Super simple. Well, it sticks! So you can't up and beat the eggs with anything resembling a smooth action. To me, that indicates a poorly-made, or poorly-executed design, or lack of product quality control. So no. I'd never buy this again. Read more

I love this! Takes me back to watching my Mom mix things in the kitchen, as a kid. It's not dishwasher safe, probably due to the handle, which has plastic at top. Who cares. Rinse it off by hand, and just enjoy using something NOT powered by electricity, once in a while! Read more
