I've always wondered if fresh grated Nutmeg was that much better! In October I bought Whole Nutmeg at my favorite bulk baking store. I tried my micro grater but it didnt work well so I ordered this actual Nutmeg Grater. I'm sure I will use the rest of the ground nutmeg I have in my pantry but I will from now on be a fresh grated nutmeg fan! I put it on my Tom & Jerry as well as grating it into my Sugar Cookie Dough. (It had been mu secret ingredient in my Sugar cookies for years!) I love the little covered top to keep the whole nutmeg & the ability to hang it in my kitchen or inside a cupboard door! This grater was the perfect addition to my collection of what my kids refer to as "Every kitchen gadget known to mankind!" I dont think I'm close to having everything but I did find a quality gadget that will be used on a regular basis! Read more

My old nutmeg grater served me well for two decades but it just no longer grates as well as it once did. I thought about trying to sharpen it but that was impractical considering the cost of a new one. This replacement is almost exactly the same but it has a nylon/plastic lid that closes more securely. When i s aw this i knew i had to have one to pass down to my daughter. Freshly grated is far tastier than bottled. This stores the nuts in the grater so you always have fresh available. And for me, this is a very nostalgic item. Both my grandmothers were born shortly after the Civil War and these were important in their kitchens when it was time to bake. Read more
