Parker 45R Heavyweight Double Edge Safety Razor 3 Piece Design with 4 Inch Handle - Solid Brass Frame

I've been using this razor for almost a year now. Before this one I used a plastic safety razor for about 6 years. The only thing that I had to get used to is how far the blade sticks out of this razor. the razor actually sticks out of the razor so it gives you an incredibly close shave. It sticks out so much that you could use it to peel fruit (which I actually tried). The weight of the handle is great and really adds to the shaving comfort. This is a quality built razor that will last you a lifetime. The beautiful patterned varnish on the handle held on for a long time, until I traveled with it and the razor was packed with some other metal objects. The varnish had chipped of partially and I decided to scrape everything off. Below the varnish you'll find solid brass so now I have a chrome and brass razor. First let me state that I shave my whole head, not just my face, and find long handle razors better for that. When I ordered this i was a little concerned about the handle not having any sort of texture or material that would prevent it from being slippery when wet. But once i got it in my hand i realize that the shape of the handle is not just for looks, it is perfectly placed, for me at least, to put my fingers at the proper balance point and also prevents slipping. And, in my opinion, makes it look damn good. One thing to be aware of, compared to my previous razors (see below) this one has a much more aggressive blade exposure/position. That combined with it's weight and some good razors (Feather or Astra Platinum is what i use) means I absolutely do NOT press the razor to my face or head. Just rest it there and let it slide down or gently pull it up. Took me a few nics on the skull and some blood "leaks" on my neck to realize that. My other 2 razors are a Merkur 34C and a Merkur 20C. The Merkur 20C is fine, but i find the ridges on the handle dig into my fingers and it gets very uncomfortable before i'm done shaving. If i just shaved my face either Merkur would be o.k. I think. This is a good product, if you like a heavy razor. It works great and has a hefty weight that aids in the gliding of the razor. The handle's design adds to the comfort and helps prevent fatigue that a heavy razor can cause. The pattern is quite appealing; however, if you are attempting to match it to other items in your shaving collection for a harmonious appeal it is nearly impossible. Worse Parker does not offer items to match either ... would suggest Parker create a shaving cup and brush with the same pattern! Read more

This will give you that bbs. Baby but smooth. It's an aggressive shave. If you easily get ingrown hairs I would not recommend this or if you have Sensitive skin. I personally like the the razor. My skin is really good and tough. So if you have strong skin this is an amazing razor. Love all the Parker stuff. Read more

Measures up! Has the weight you want, and does the job wonderfully! I am a wetshave collector/addict ha! And this while is on the lower end of price ranges/brands, it holds it's own without a doubt! My Merker's and Fatboys (I have two one of solid 24K gold double dipped to give you a feel of the money I invest in this...this Parker is super!! The sharks, I cannot stand the shark blades..for me! Remember one thing for sure about blades, it's different for all of us due to skin differences. So get this and sample blades to find your fit! This razor is great, exactly what I was hoping for when I purchased this razor for my partner but that's not why I felt compelled to come back and write a review...I want to share my experience with customer service. I purchased this razor in December so about 6 months ago. One day when my boyfriend went to change the razor blade, the entire head of the razor fell off. I was surprised as I'd done my research and this razor had great reviews so I called the customer support for Parker Safety Razor's and proceeded to have, hands down, the most pleasant and lovely interaction. The woman I spoke to was so personable and sweet, she told me that it was likely a faulty device as that doesn't normally happen but not to worry as the razor had a year warranty. She gave me all the information I needed to submit for a replacement. After sending the request, I was shocked by how quickly they responded and handled the issue. They were fast, efficient and diligent, even got the replacement in the mail that same day. I'm honestly so impressed by this experience with their customer service and wish every experience was this smooth. Anyways, if you are interested in this razor, I'd encourage you to go for it. It is a heavyweight like advertised. It is a very aggressive razor, would recommend this for an experienced shaver. the gap between the blade and the safety bar is much larger then any of my Merkurs.. Again the weight is great, might try and put this handle on one of my Merkur razors. Read more
