Bought one in black to sit in a dim area of the room. Simple shape made it easy to place within the room. About the size of my hand so it fits in without taking up much space. Soon everyone was using this clock throughout the day, relying on it. While the overall size is modest; the numbers anre large enough to see from 16 feet anway. Also simple to use with 3 triple aaa batteries, and so easy to set the time. After having the black one for a couple years I bought a new white one received it today and popped in some batteries. I have never used an alarm clock outside of a phone, so i could just be stupid-got these for my kids, couldn't figure out how to turn the alarms off, and they kept ALLEGEDLY resetting themselves (coukd have been my kids messing with them and not owning up to it). I use my phone as an alarm clock but wanted a backup. I wanted to be able to see what time it was when I wake up at night and I wanted a backup alarm in case there was a snafu with my phone, it happens. I didn't want to use another outlet and I didn't want a non stop glow. I also wanted to be able to freely move it around. I got 2 different models to try out, this one and the square one. This one is larger and more simple. It doesn't have a 24 hour time option, I like that option but as a backup it's not that big of a deal. The square version has the date, time, and alarm setting displayed. By giving up those options you get a huge display of pure time. If there was a 24hr feature it would be perfect but that's a tiny factor, it's still pretty darn perfect. I like how you just press the side to turn the alarm on and off. When I want to see what time it is when I wake up in the middle of the night I no longer have to fuss with my phone, which is a real pain sometimes and makes me get too awake to fall back asleep. I just tap the big button and easily see in large pinkness what time it is and if it's reasonable to resume my sleep. I don't have to worry if I screwed up my phone and I don't have to make it's light go out. It's a backup to my phone so I have it set to "last minute to get up skip the coffee" time. I will still use my phone as primary alarm. The price was reasonable, I will probably try each model clock I got and get another of my favorite in case of breakage. I'm surprised I didn't read that any other of the reviewers used these things as a backup to their phone clock or other primary clock. Read more
