This definitely warms up a room! The auto-shutoff works well (my husband and I trip over it all the time while carrying the baby, and it shuts off instantly). I took off a star because the thermostat function doesn't always work consistently. Sometimes it will turn off after warming the room up to a certain temp, and other times it just pumps heat until I turn it off, or turns off but never comes back on when the room cools.
