A good tool for recovery under certain conditions if used properly
I’m kind of a health and fitness nut and I have injured my rotator cuff somewhat recently, and I’m still experiencing some pain. When I saw this product, I thought I’d give it a try, and currently the jury is still out but mainly I think it’s a good brace. I’m following advice to wear the brace for shorter periods of time broken up throughout the day, particularly when I feel more pain. While I’m wearing the brace, I don’t actually feel much relief. But it does seem like after I take the brace off I feel somewhat better. I’m also told to possibly wear the brace in my sleep, but I find that wearing this brace in my sleep is fairly uncomfortable. I have tried adjusting it as many different ways as I can think of so that it’s not too tight and not too loose, but for some reason, it cuts the blood flow off to my arm, and I end up with different pain from wearing the brace. For context I am 6‘2“ I weigh 165 pounds and I’m relatively muscular so weight is primarily not an issue. Based on the time that I’ve spent with this brace, I would say it’s probably better for daytime use depending on what you’re trying to treat (also probably depending on your physique). I also tried wearing the brace while I was doing some light exercise. During the exercise in question, without the brace, I usually have some popping in my shoulder, however, with the brace the popping seemed to be worse. I took the brace off and repeated the exercise, and the popping reduced again. Again, I tried adjusting the fit and I couldn’t seem to get it exactly right. However, much like the first scenario after the exercise, I felt less pain than I would typically have. After the time I’ve spent with it I think I most certainly will continue using it, but only in certain conditions. Light exercise, primarily and in times where I’m feeling particularly more pain. This is an injury that I have had for maybe a year and a half that doesn’t want to fully heal, which is compounded by the fact that I tend to sleep on the injured shoulder while I’m sleeping. All that said, I think a majority of the problems that I’ve been having with this brace are primarily because of my own particularities and not anything at fault with the brace. I think it’s a very good tool for recovery and I would recommend it. Five out of five stars. Read more
