I ordered this walkie-talkie set because an older family member lives with us and sometimes needs assistance of one sort or another. I had been using a wireless electronic doorbell, where the "button" was kept by the family member, and I had the "bell" itself. This worked fine so far as it went, but all I could tell when the bell rang was that the family member needed something but not how urgent that need might be. Something else was called for: the ability to communicate back and forth and not just to receive a notification. These walkie-talkies, now in use for a couple of weeks, are working very well. I neither wanted nor needed "fancier" (and more expensive) ones with screens and more complicated functions but just the simple ability to communicate by voice. These are the essence of simplicity: Turn the control knob clockwise and a unit is on, with continued turning raising the volume. There is a built-in announcement declaring the unit on and stating the channel number. If both units are on the same channel, communication will occur (and channels are easy to change with up-arrow and down-arrow buttons on the side). It is difficult this early to know how long the battery will last between charges, but so far our judicious use has not required a second charge yet, which suggests that the batteries are likely to hold charges well. I probably will check the range by walking down the street just as an experiment, but for my purposes---using these in and around the home and near neighborhood for the most part within maybe 300 or 400 yards, they work excellently. I have no reason to suspect that they would not do well over a considerably longer distance. The price was attractive as well, and the compact and rugged construction coupled with the simplicity of operation are extremely appealing. Finally, the response from the company in answering questions was impressive. Here is a usage tip that may be helpful depending upon how you decide to use these walkie-talkies. It is easier for me, in certain circumstances depending on what I'm doing, not to have my unit clipped to my belt. I prefer in such cases that it hang from a lanyard around my neck. This is easily done by attaching a perhaps one-inch-diameter key ring to the lanyard swivel and then slipping the ring up behind the belt retainer on the unit. All in all, for someone wanting basic and reliable person-to-person communication, this is a great choice. Read more
I bought these for use at work after my job tried to upgrade from these to the newer model of this same brand. These are more durable for the type of work I do and use them for, the battery life seems pretty good so far, I’ve had mine for about 5 months now and use it 35-40 hours each week and only charge it about once every 1.5 weeks. They are easy to use, simple and basic, and the signal range is pretty decent as well. I have tested and for at least a mile communication is clear. The buttons are self explanatory. Powering them in is a breeze. The only thing I could say is the color variety is slim. It would be nice if there were other options maybe more neon colors. Read more
When I started looking for radios for our churches security detail, these are the ones that stood out. Small sleek design for easy concealment with a decent quality earpiece at an affordable price. After much consideration I figured I would opt for a 2 pack to see what kind of quality etc. For $30 I wasn't expecting a lot. Once they came in and I opened the box, I was very impressed right away at the quality not to mention the slim sleek design for easy concealment. I come from a LE and fire dept background so I have experience with high quality radios. These radios delivered in appearance. Now, to test them for audio and reception. Upon turning the power knob to "on" the radio has an audible "power on" voice. When transmitting/receiving communications an led light will light up red for transmitting or green for receiving. The external speaker is of nice quality for the price point. Is it crystal clear with noise cancelation..no. Is it clear, distinguishable audio...ABSOLUTELY!! I'll say it this way, for the price I was pleasantly surprised. As far as range goes, these radios seem to work off of linear sight distance. As long as your on a somewhat flat area, you can get some decent range, like 2-300 yards. Up next was the earpiece. Once again, was very surprised with the high quality for the price point. Think CIA style earpiece. 2 alligator clips to hold the cord to the collar of your jacket so the earpiece isn't ripped out and a clip to hold the mic in place for ease of use. However, that said, these radios may not be for you if you're looking for a rugged, multi channel mid range radio. These radios are single channel and very lightweight. These radios are perfectly designed for more small scale professional use such as security details, parking details, etc where mid range multi channel isn't needed. *UPDATE* It was my mistake, this radio is in fact a multi-channel radio. Overall, GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE....HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! (am ordering the 6pack with charging dock when finished with this review.) Read more

For the price, these radios work well but the battery life could be better if you plan to use them all day. You do get cross talk or chatter but you can usually find a channel that is clear. Read more
