SAS Clover Ankle Strap Sandal

I took a chance ordering these sandals in the medium width size 7. I normally order a 7 wide width to accommodate my duck shaped feet. My feet are wide in front including bunions, and narrow in back and at the heel. One reviewer mentioned that this sandal ran a bit wide and straps made adjustment easy. The SAS Clover Angle Strap fits fine. The length is perfect and the four adjustable straps work for my front, mid, top and heel. Although these sandals have good arch support and sufficient padding, they are not bedroom slipper comfortable yet. I expect that they will be after I break them in. I plan to wear the sandals around the house with socks for a couple of days. This should ease, soften and mold the leather a bit. My hope is that these will become comfortable enough for walking long distances when I travel. They are a better look than my very comfortable but bulky sneakers. You will not find a better sandal ever. I wore this style SAS sandal and loved them. They are great on any kind of terrain as well as long walk through cobbestones cities. Then some years back SAS discontinued them and I never found anything like them. (Clark makes a shoe that looks like this, but I was disappointed with it. It lacks the arch support and cushioning. ) I'm not sure when SAS reintroduced them but finding them now - and wearing them again - is like connecting up with an old friend. 3 Points 1. They adjust in just about every variable imaginable so that you can make them work for your feet. I have a wide toe box and narrow heels. No problem. Nor do I need a wide (as I sometimes do). The straps on these, which are held by a buckle and not vecro (so much nicer) accommodate me perfectly. 2. They are smartly designed. Many sandals, including those made by Merrell (my go-to hiking shoe in wide), have a side support strap that cuts right into my ankle bone. SAS' side support strap is angled and doesn't cut at all. 3. They are one of the few shoes that is still made 100% in the USA and the quality shines through everywhere. The cushioning is fabulous, the leather soft, and the attention to detail amazing. My old ones lasted for a very long time. And this looks like the exact same shoe. I'm very happy to have them back! These sandals are adjustable in four places. A surgery years ago left me with one foot 1/2 size smaller than the other. Also, I have a bunion on right foot and the strap surrounds it and I don’t feel it. The leather is soft. I may buy it in blue too. Very supportive also. Great shoe! Read more

I was excited to find an attractive navy blue sandal after a long quest. I specifically liked that it wasn’t all a solid color and that it came in a wide width. The price was quite daunting but I decided to treat myself. Unfortunately the sandal was way too long and the arch support did not match with my arches. Not sure if a full or half size down would work best. Undecided on reordering. Read more

These would be good but they run wide. I ordered a narrow width and they are too wide for me. Also run short. Read more

SAS generally runs wide and I have a bony skinny foot. However, These sandals are a good fit since there are buckles rather than just velcro to adjust for comfort. I ordered a 7 Slim or 7 AAA which is the equivalent of a 7 N or 7 AA in most other brands. Hopefully this will help people with narrow widths decide on how to order this well made sandal. Read more

These sandals went with me to Europe. I could walk all day in them and I didn’t have any feet pain. They are cuter than most sandals I get. They worked perfectly with my bunions. Read more

These were very comfortable. The three straps made it easy to widen or loosen for a comfortable feel. Unfortunately I bought them for a trip out west & were left in an expensive motel. In spite of numerous calls to have them returned to me “they couldn’t find them”! Read more
