I've lived with red digital numbered clock radios forever. The color is depressing and red is so hard to read from a distance at my age. BUT, I got THIS clock and I'm in love with it. The blue digital numbers are so easy to read from a distance and so peaceful. The PROBLEM is the brightness. It's a horrible, glaring, bright blue color, even though it's a wonderful cobalt blue. The third night of being wakened by the bright glow all over the room, I got creative: I put a black knee-high nylon over the clock and the bright glare is completely gone, but the numbers are clear and the color isn't compromised. I just scrunched the black knee-high all the way down as though I were going to put it on my foot, then slipped it over the top if the clock and gathered the rest of the knee-high around the pedestal base. Can't even tell there's anything covering the display. PERFECT! Plus, it's a bit like a mini-me next to my pedestal flatpanel tv. Together they look like big brother and little sister. Love it! I would absolutely recommend this clock -- and buy an inexpensive pair of black knee-high nylons to make it a perfect purchase. Read more

I’ve only had mine for about 10 days, but I like everything about it. For starters, this has a simple plug, rather than one of those voltage adapters that are such a nuisance to deal with. This plug straight into the wall, takes no room at all. Secondly, it’s extremely easy to set the time on this. You don’t need to refer to the instructions, a three-year-old could set the time on this. I have several other digital clocks that are so confusing to set, it’s a real nuisance. And I always wonder about in the future when I no longer have the instructions— will I even be able to set the time on the thing? With this clock, that will not be a problem. I think the blue numerals are very beautiful. It’s a warm color. It does faintly light up the entire room at night, but I’m actually thinking of this as a small night lamp. I think if you have it right next to your bed, it potentially could disturb your sleep a little bit. I don’t have mine right next to the bed. I have it on a dresser about 10 feet away, and I love the warm glow. And even without my glasses, I can read the numerals from across the room. At this price point, I’m gonna go ahead and buy three more of these, and just put them away until I find a place where I can use them. This is a very useful item, and I have no complaints at all. UPDATE: well, after three months, my opinion has changed. For some reason, the blue LED segments have faded. They do not illuminate with the same degree of intensity. Some segments are still very bright, but about half of them have faded.. It creates this really bizarre montage of mismatched LED segments. What I liked about the clock was it was so bold and had so much visual clarity in the middle of the night. Now I have to really struggle to see the time. This is very unusual for a clock made by a major manufacturer. Something is defective about the LEDs they used on this clock. It’s too late to return it, unfortunately it’s just going to have to go into the trash. Read more

one thing i have learnt from ordering online is to check the size before you order in which in this case i did not. the clock is small so not super visible AND the alarm was not loud enough to wake EITHER of my boys........ looks decent. will work if you wake easily. two years later>>>>>>>>>>>>the buttons that you need to use to program it are so small and when you move them they glide right over all the options, so you have to spend double time just trying to get them in the right position before you can program it. the plastic covering the led screen has been broken off and held on by tape for years. this clock is a piece of junk. although its not expensive, its also not free. i would rather have spent a few more bucks and gotten something better. i cant wait till it dies so i have a reason to replace it. i DEFINITELY would NOT recommend this clock. I purchased this clock because I only like "blue colored" digits in the bedroom and this clock has a very beautiful blue color. The sleek & stylish design also makes the clock look great no matter where you place it. Until I plugged it in the outlet I didn't realize how LARGE the digits were- which really is not a problem. The clock is "very" bright so those who like total darkness while sleeping may find this very annoying. My senior parents want me to purchase this same clock for them because they are able to see these digits very clearly at night and they haven't seen anything comparable in the stores. I can not comment on the alarm because I didn't purchase this clock for alarm use but I'll take the advice of other reviewers that is must be quiet sounding. As an added note- years ago while living up north and having several power failures I learned never to depend on an electric alarm clock alone. I always kept a battery operated alarm clock beside my bed that was really loud and this never failed in waking me up on time :) Read more
