My husband is a Marine & my official knife sharpener. He believes knives need to be sharp at all times. He likes this steel honing rod & says it feels comfortable to hold & to use. The rod has some heft to it and feels like a good quality. The rod has a ring on the handle end, so that you can hang it up in your kitchen and never misplace it. If you are not familiar with how to use a honing rod, check out a few videos before trying to use it for the first time. Read more
I just got a beautiful set of culinary knives, but they did not come with a honing rod for sharpening them. So I got this one separately to include with my set. It’s an impressively heavy-duty and sturdy honing rod. The first thing I noticed was that it has some heft to it because it is made of solid, high-carbon stainless steel with a precise texture to it. Now I see why they call this a professional honing rod. The handle is plastic (polypropylene), but it has a nice ergonomic feel in my hand and a non-slip grip. There is an art to using a honing rod, and the knife must be applied at a specific angle (15-20 degrees). I suggest watching some videos to get the hang of it if you don’t already know how to use one. Proper use of this honing rod means that my beautiful culinary knives will always stay smooth and sharp over the years. Read more

It doesn't have the weight one would expect it to have but on the plus side, it's good for smashing ice when the ice is all melted together. Read more
My pocket knife had become very dull. I had the KINTIF Sharpening Steel Professional Honing Rod but did not know how to use it at first. Following some simple instructions, I ran my blade along one side at what I could tell was the closest to a 22.5-degree angle, with the blade facing away from me. As I slowly moved my knife along the rod, I could feel the bumps in my blade. I did a few runs on each side back and forth and then tested the blade on a blank piece of paper. My knife cut better after each set of runs. The metal on both sides of my blade has been smoothed out and angled, leaving my knife much sharper. I gathered the shavings off my knife and the rod with a soft cloth. The honing blade was compmetely solid/sturdy when I worked with it. The smaller size was perfect for my smaller knife. The heavy duty attatched ring on the handle was great for placement on a hook. Read more

If you take care of a honing steel, it will last you a long time, as long as it is a good quality product. This honing steel more than meets my high expectations. I'm impressed with the way the non-slip handle feels in my hand. If you don't feel comfortable holding a honing steel, you won't use it properly. This handle makes me feel confident that I can sharpen knives without losing my grip on the steel. The steel itself is professional grade. I've tested all my knives, from small paring to large chef, on this steel and I am very satisfied with the results. This honing steel would be an excellent gift for someone who is getting into cooking and wants to perform like a top chef. Read more
