Glides like a gold metal skater across the rink. Excellent stability, smooth movement and solid construction are reason alone to recommend this tripod. Add in the one touch tilt head, the single lever leg telescoping for quick setup and insane stability on even the most uneven surfaces and you’ve got something of a studio quality tripod that should cost much more. I love this thing for shooting videos. It’s a tad on the heavy side but that’s to be expected of such a robust setup. Just don’t take it on that long hike! In all seriousness, it’s a really strong tripod ready for your setup regardless of your rig’s weight. Oh, did I mention how smooth the movement is on this thing? Read more

I bought a number of SmallRig and Rokinon products, along with Blackmagic and RODE gear, on the recommendation of a professional photographer and videographer as I was putting together a professional-grade kit for my company to produce in-house videos at scale. I couldn’t be happier. The full kit cost about the same as a single day’s shoot with a high-end production outfit. With a bit of training, we’ve already produced more than a hundred videos and turned it into a social media engine for the business. The setup has been fundamentally affordable, incredibly effective, and surprisingly approachable for non-specialists. Across the board, every product has felt professional-grade but still learnable for an amateur willing to pay a little attention. Five stars all around. Read more

The SmallRig AD-80 FreeBlazer tripod is a great pick for video shoots. It extends to 71” and the 75mm bowl adapter gives you plenty of flexibility for different angles. The one-step height adjustment is super handy, and it can handle up to 33lbs, so it’s solid enough for heavy cameras and camcorders. The build is tough and feels reliable, though it is a bit heavy to lug around for long periods. If you don’t mind the extra weight, it’s a sturdy choice that won’t let you down. Pros: • Sturdy with a 71” height and quick height adjustment • 75mm bowl adapter for versatile angles • Can handle up to 33lbs • Well-built and durable Cons: • A bit heavy, which can be cumbersome to carry Overall, if you need a solid tripod that’s built to last and handle heavy gear, the SmallRig AD-80 FreeBlazer is a solid choice. I would just recommend keeping your setup under 20 pounds. Highly recommend! I hope you found this review useful! Read more

This SmallRig tripod is great ! I do multiple camera video shoots and recently purchased an additional camera that I needed a tripod for. Did a lot of searching of many manufacturers and decided on the Small rig. It's well built and very light weight and sturdy. Leg extension is smooth and easy to extend and retract. The lever action latches on the legs are easy to operate and provide a positive grip. The storage zipper case also well made with room for the pan head . I own two other brand tripods I have had for a few years now Seeing how nice this one is I'm considering selling them and replacing with 2 more of these these Small Rig tripods. If you are in the market for a great tripod, I would recommend this SmallRig AD-80 FreeBlaze tripod. Very impressive.... Read more

I have some experience in creating videos and shooting photos with a digital camera. Until now, I’ve struggled with using cheap, lightweight tripods that slip and wobble. After some research, I found the SmallRig AD-80 FreeBlazer Heavy-Duty Tripod, and I couldn’t be happier! The super sturdy build and overall quality of this tripod are excellent. It features three quick adjustments (not six) for raising and lowering, smooth panning, and an easy-to-use quick release plate. If you’ve been using flimsy, lightweight tripods, it's worth spending a bit more for this one. Today was a good day :) Read more

Dear Small Rig - I would like a refund if possible. Please read. I've been using this tripod for about ten months. I like its fast-setting clamps on each leg. However, on a narrative shoot yesterday, TWO of three leg clamps stopped working. They would not grip/clamp the rails. I had no way to secure two of the legs. They just slid up and down, useless. As a result, I had to use this tripod as a mono pod with a FX3 rigged out on top of it. This should not happen to a Small Rig tripod after ten months of moderate usage. Thanks for your consideration in this regard. Read more

**TIP: the pan/tilt handle is shipped detached from the rest of the unit and can be found in an inner pocket inside of the tripod bag! It's not missing! This is a nice, smooth liquid-filled head with a super sturdy build. I had some questions for Small Rig and they provided really good customer service! I will be ordering from Small Rig again in the future! Read more
