I am a news journalist for an online site and was looking for something that was lighter to carry than my HUGE shoulder cam and tremendously heavy tripod. Once I upgraded my iPhone to the 13 Pro Max and discovered that it took wayyyyy better pics and video than my older shoulder cam, I needed something light, steady and portable to use with my iPhone. This rig solved everything. I'm out the door with only one thing in my hand, strap it into my SUV with a seatbelt and off I go. The set-up on site is as easy as just finding a spot to place my tripod (among the many other stations there with their bulky, heavy, outdated equipment). I also purchased an external battery pack in case I run out of charge on the iPhone (which attaches to the back of the rig), along with a set of wireless lavalier mics which pair perfectly with the audio cord and adapter included in the rig package. I attached the lavalier receiver to the extra mounting shoe that comes with this package that I installed on one of the hand grips. This is a solid cage for your phone and I like the design overall. However, here a few things you should know: 1. The included lightning to 3.5mm adapter did not work. I tried various troubleshooting solutions- swapping out the cable, making sure the additional lighting charger port was plugged into power, etc. etc.. nothing worked. Then, based on some YouTube research, I tried an Apple-branded lightning to 3.5mm adapter that I already had and, voila. It works. So the included dongle isn't mifi certified and is essentially junk. Several of the negative comments here mention that the included Allen wrenches are too small. NOT TRUE. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra. It's a very large phone. I can't mount it without issue. There are so many great things Aboit this kit but I won't get into those. Everything, in my opinion, is perfect except for one... ... The usb c dongle to connect the microphone. It's pretty much garbage. This while kit is amazing but I recommend you do some research on a decent USBc mic dongle to get the most of the microphone provided. Read more
