I got my first Sonoff switch a few years ago. Had to wire it up myself, but it worked well. These S40s are terrific. Just plug 'em in. The connection is established with Bluetooth, and from then on they're connected to the internet through the local router. Using eWeLink, you can turn things on and off in your house from anywhere in the world. Several years ago, it was disappointing that eWeLink was a phone-only application. But that's fixed. You can now have the app on your computer to control these guys as well. The S40s are dead-nuts simple to use. Once programmed, you can unplug them, and plug them in anywhere else in the house without changing anything. It's nice that they're great, but they're also available at bargain prices. Cheap thrill. Note that eWeLink can be connected to Google Home, so you can run all of these devices through Google Home. VERY IMPORTANT: You can get cheap knock-offs of these, but they DO NOT WORK with eWeLink, and you need to download a separate app to connect to Google Home. So once you get started using Sonoffs, don't try to expand using these knock-offs. Stay with Sonoff. Read more

If you are not persistent, you will not easily connect this device to your wifi network. What I found works best is to scan the QR code on the device, and VOILA, the magic happens. Going the more conventional route by using the tradtional methods to add this device to your wifi network will result in unneecssary frustration IMO - I speak from experience. Read more

I read somebody else’s review that said it worked with 5 G however, I was not able to make it work with mine. My equipment is supposed to be able to adjust down to 2.4 g. THIS IS NOT THE FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER because they clearly state that it is for 2.4 g. Read more

This plug turned out to be the same as any other that I've wasted my money on. I keep reptiles, and want to be able to control the lights from my phone, but every one of these plugs that I've tried ends up being a waste of money. I can't get them to connect to anything. Alexa can't find it, my phone can't find it. I follow the directions exactly, yet it just doesn't connect. Total waste of money and time. Read more

Use caution when ordering these. I didn’t realize there were two versions of the S40 Lite, Zigbee and Wi-Fi. I bought this version by mistake, and while they’re returnable, I don’t have a UPS store near me and Amazon won’t provide a free return label for a pickup. The Wi-Fi version does not seem to be as well supported in home assistant, the add on provided for it only seems to provide a Lovelace card and not a proper device, so as far as I can tell so far it can’t be used in automations. The s40 version also can’t be flashed with alternate firmware, so it’s usability with home assistant is limited. Read more
