When the disc drive on your PS5 starts acting up, skipping discs, refusing to read, or making too much noise, this replacement drive module feels like a very satisfying fix. I popped it into my fat model PS5, one of the CFI-1200 versions, and it worked immediately upon reassembly. Discs load well, games install fine. The plug and play compatibility with the specific PS5 models (CFI-1200/1215A) makes this incredibly easy to install. It’s designed to slot right in without needing calibration or extra tweaks, and in that regard, it does it's job. Quiet when idle, no weird clicking or misalignment, and smooth disc operation. The quality seems good enough to match the OEM feel. Installation DID take some nerves (don’t drop any screws!), but the module fit cleanly once everything was aligned correctly. Keep in mind though, because this is a hardware replacement, it voids any warranty still active, so only go this route if you’re comfortable with self repairs. The optical drive is precision equipment, so dust or rough handling during install can affect performance, so take your time. If your PS5’s disc drive is giving you grief, this replacement module shows up as a practical, effective solution. It has been dependable so far, great for anyone wanting to extend the life of their disc drive PS5 without buying a brand new console. Read more
