I wanted a high quality grater that isn't flimsy and doesn't contain any plastic parts... this product exceeded my expectations. The steel grater is well designed, thick and sturdy. The hardwood platform and handle are beautiful. I keep mine on a shelf because it is quite nice to look at. You won't want to put this in the dishwasher, but I found the higher quality steel very easy to clean even after forgetting to clean the cheese off for a night (I recommend a thin, long, and firm cleaning brush that you would normally use on glassware because the grater is VERY sharp and you don't want your soapy hands anywhere near it). Bit pricey given how thin the metal used for the grater is. Love the wooden handle and base. Do not forget to use food grade mineral oil on the wood. Over all. I like this product, and hope the metal holds up to daily use. So far so good. Read more

Super durable. Was finally able to shred hard dry cheese. Not easy, but the unit handle the Manuel effort without breaking. Last grinder was plastic with with metal gturn handle that failed. Same cost... It pays to buy German manufactured products. Read more
