Waterdrop Plus XWF Replacement for GE XWF WR17X30702 Refrigerator Water Filter NSF ANSI 401 53 42 372 Certified

Our refrigerator, which is supposed to need a change of filter every six months, barely makes it to three before the "Change Filter" light goes on. At first, I went to the (Orange Big Box Hardware Store) to buy the filters, and they wanted over $70 for one filter! At four times a year, that makes my refrigerator a very expensive luxury. Luckily for me, I took a look here on Amazon and found these. They work well (the water tastes as good as with the expensive filter), Lasts the three months, and is as easy to change and use as the expen$ive ones. I now keep a couple of boxes on hand for the days when the "Change Filter" light comes on (We use a lot of water and always use the filter) So I am getting the same thing at a greatly reduced price, which makes me happy. My only advice is that if you are buying a refrigerator or other machine that requires filter changes, price the filters before buying the appliance. Read more

Quality filters at a great price. These filters have been my go-tos over the past 5 or so years. I feel they offer excellent filtration at a much better price then the original OEM ones. If I remember correctly, they even filter out some additional things that the OEM ones do not. Would highly recommend. Read more

11/5/25 update: I am updating this review because the company reached out to me and offered to assist me and make up for it. I think support like that is rare nowadays. They didn't ask me to change this review, but I will do it because the customer support deserves a better score. Original: I have been using this brand for years and normally have had no issues. Usually the water tastes fine. But this last filter I ordered, the water tastes bad. If I let the water sit for a few hours and let it go to room temperature and take a sip, the water tastes like carbon or some bitter chemical taste. I'm not sure what changed about this product and if this is safe or not. This taste has not gone away after several days of constant use. I am questioning whether to continue using this brand going forward. Read more

The Waterdrop Plus WDP-F48 is supposed to be compatible with the GE XWFE water filter. It fits and looks the much the same, but the internal water openings for the filter do not align with the refrigerator's openings. Thus, no water flows. Read more

This vs GE'S filters? These are much more reasonably priced with similar performance. From the specs they filter out much the same as GE with maybe slightly less. However, for one GE filter, I can get 3 of these. Enough said. Read more

These generic filters are an exceptional value specifically because they have almost identical water treatment certifications as the OEM GE brand. The NSF certification for contaminant removal in this filter is identical to GE except for NSF P473 which removes “forever chemicals” and lead (the GE version has this NSF and also claim to remove lead). This version has NSF 372 which only reduces lead and does not filter out some of the “forever chemicals” (like Teflon). So, if you’re okay with that small difference, these are an amazing value. I am okay with this because I only use the filter for ice. Just be aware that almost every single generic XWF filter only removes chlorine and makes the water taste clean and removes almost no other contaminants. This is the only filter that I have ever been able to find that has all of the other NSF certifications with the exception of the one I just discussed. That is why you can get other generic filters for next to nothing - because they basically filter next to nothing. These are an amazing value and contain an exceptional filtration system.
