Got the kit today. Relatively easy to set up. The hard part is finding the right angle, it would be better if there were preset marks for the common angles used. 15 deg, 20 deg, etc. The major concern is the red 6000 grit stone was not attached to the base, and the white 6000 grit popped off while I was using it. A little gorilla glue and it was fixed. I was able to use all the stones after that to fix a badly chipped chefs knife, so all in all, it works. Read more

This works very well, I've made several pocket knives and kitchen knives truly razor sharp. I got the version with all of the extra stones. I think the super fine grit stones are pretty good, but the coarse ones wear down very fast. The diamond tape stones also seem to wear down quickly. I've read that this will fit the apex pro stones, so I'll probably get some of those to replace worn out stones. Read more

Bought this from an ad that I saw. Seemed pretty east to use so I figured what the heck, bought it. Well, pretty well constructed. You have to take a second when you put it together to TIGHTEN it all up. I spent the little extra and got the extra stones with it and I'm glad I did. The wet stones it comes with are kinda cheap but I'm sure they'll probably work pretty well. The diamond stones I got work really good. Our knives were really dull so I started with the lowest number. Ran it 20 times per side (into the cutting edge, never drew toward me) from tip to hilt. I went through each number after at 10 runs per side and finished with a 3000 grit ceramic stone. Same 10 runs per side. Those knives can take the hair off your arm. I advise you though, be careful, cut myself. They're sharp now. You just have to take your time. Make sure your angles are good. Close as possible worked just fine. You're not sending this into space, you're just sharpening a knife for crying out loud. But if your edge is trashed to start with, START with the lowest grit. And other than assembly, throw the darn instructions away. They're kind of worthless. Tighten everything up real good and go at it. I'm pretty satisfied with this thing and I'd advise anyone to pick it up. With some advise of course. Read more
