Product works great and has continued support by the company with 2-3 firmware updates so far. Energy tracking is nice and the item has been working for the last few months without any issues. Homekit integration is nice and setting up automations is not that bad like some other brands. I use homekit for the timers and it works without any issues. The smart-plugs have good connectivity and the range is pretty good, it can get through a concrete block wall (2-plugs in the garage vs router on other side of the house) and turn on/off items as needed. Only dislike is that it covers the outlets next to it on a power strip/surge protector, but that's easily solved with the mini-extensions so I can use all the plugs as needed. Pretty minor gripe if you ask me. The color indicator on the side is nice so I can manually turn on/off items if I don't have my phone with me such as accessory lights outside or the sprinkler pump. The electrical price/cost calculator in the app is a nice feature so you can see how much power you are using on multiple time scales. Will certainly buy more when I need them! Read more

After a few initial setup issues, the product works great and I plan to buy more to replace some older Wemo plugs. I initially installed directly into Alexa, it installed as 2-devices. After some research It was recommended to install using the MEROSS app and Alexa Meross Skill. At first the installation failed using the Meross App. After a few attempts and rebooting my iPhone, I finally deleted the Meross App and reinstalled, plug successfully installed and Alexa skills automatically picked up the new plug.. (I contacted Meross support they said it sound like an App cache issue - suggested if I have issues try clearing app cache - open the Meross app and click "user", then click "settings" and click "clear cache" to clear it). I have since installed 7 additional plugs and installation was easy and plugs are working great. Read more

After using smart plugs from another popular manufacturer for several years, I decided to try the new Meross smart plugs with Matter to see how they compare. Overall, Iโm very impressed! Setting up these smart plugs is a little different than the plugs Iโve used in the past. The included paper instructions said to click the plus sign in the app and then choose the option to scan the QR code on the plug. However, I didn't initially get an option to scan a code. Instead, I chose the option to add a smart plug, selected the correct model, and was prompted to watch a short video explaining how to add the device to Apple Home and the Meross app. The video prompted me to open the camera and scan the QR code on the plug, and a moment later, it was added to both apps. Next, it asked if I wanted to add it to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, which was also a simple process. Afterward, I tested controlling the plug through Home, Alexa, and the Meross app, and all worked perfectly. It also responds a bit faster than my other plugs. At this point, I thought it was like any other smart plug. Then I looked in the Meross app and saw a bunch of neat features. First, it can monitor energy usage. I plugged in my laptop charger and was able to see the real-time power consumption. It also logs this info to see power usage over a day, week, month, or year. You can also enter the rate you pay for electricity and track how much it costs to power whatever is plugged in. Iโm going to use these on my indoor Christmas lights this winter to see how much thatโs costing me. Another nice feature is the overheat alert. The plug should never overheat, but if there is a problem or if you overload the plug and it starts to get too hot, the app can alert you. You can also set it to automatically shut off if it gets too hot. There is also a โstandby killerโ feature that can be enabled to prevent devices in standby from using electricity. Overall, Iโm impressed with this smart plug. It was easy to set up and has a great set of features. Iโd definitely recommend it if youโre looking to pick up some smart plugs. Read more

UPDATE: Going from 2 stars to 4 stars. I thought these mentioned thread support somewhere but I must have been mistaken. WiFi only for connection/Matter over WiFi. Upon further testing, HomeKit would still lose connection to the smart plug within minutes, even being on the same VLAN. Turns out mDNS was the issue. I am running a Unifi system so if anyone has the same issues, this is the cause. I downloaded a app on my iPhone called Discovery which was a easy way to then be able to find the multicast DNS requests from the smart plug (_matter._tcp.local). I put this into the mDNS allowed and after connection returned to HomeKit. I currently have a return setup for these, but I am on the fence about keeping or returning them. ORIGINAL REVIEW These smart plugs do not stay connected to HomeKit. The whole point of matter is to eliminate any need for the Meross app or WiFi. Initial setup started without a hitch. I was instantly able to add to HomeKit via the matter QR code on the side of the smart plug. The plug connected to HomeKit and everything was workingโฆfor all of 5 minutes. After the initial setup the smart plug showed not responding in HomeKit rendering it useless. I know firmware updates help with connectivity so to give it the best shot I downloaded the Meross app, connected the smart plugs to the app and was able to update the firmware to the latest 9.5.33. After I had to remove the smart plug from the Meross app, factory reset it to add back into HomeKit and same thing again. Connected, setup, and worked for all of 5 minutes before going unresponsive again. My Apple TV which is my home hub was all of 10 feet away which shouldnโt be an issue for communication. In the end I will be returning these. If you want to use the Meross app then great, they work there and energy monitoring is cool but with HomeKit not working, homebridge into Home Assistant is also pointless without involving the Meross app or putting the smart plugs on WiFi. 2 stars for not really supporting matter, these work ok on WiFi and via the Meross app. Read more
