the history channel did a fantastic job following these fishermen and gator hunters in their small window of time to hunt gators during the gator season. its not only about the gators, but the amazing men and women who risk thier lives and limbs to keep the swamps from becoming overrun with gators and then moving into the areas that are habitated by humans. this is a great overview of swamp living. the personalities that are featured are fun and real. most of us can relate to their hard work and passions. my favorite team is tommy and joe. they have their ups and downs but keep it real. its not all drama, a lot of funny and ackward moments that cant be scripted. i recommend this series to anyone who is a tad curious about lives that most of us have and will not ever experience. two thumbs up from me! I had heard of this show before but never felt like watching it. TV has been such a let down in the past few years and everything is the same ol sam ol...but THIS show really did it for me. My family and I have designated nights where we watch Swamp People together. It is my absolute FAVORITE show and never gets boring! Jackpot for the History Channel finding something to hook the younger AND older age groups at the same time! Everyone can enjoy this show and it will have you and your family laughing together. I was born and raised in North Louisiana. I know that (as Texas Tourism Folks Like To Say) South Louisiana is whole other Country and a far cry from the red clay hills of North Louisiana but traveling the state with my parents during my youth gave me an opportunity to experience the cajun way of life. Bottom Line.... This is a very entertaining series and certainly worth the price of the first season dvd's. For 11.00 you get ten episodes that will let you see what making a living from America's Largest Swamp is like. Thank You History Channel for making this program possible. Read more

I'm really enjoying this series. We have teams that we cheer for, others that we are not quite so fond of. Tyler the dog and his Zebra cakes are terrific - I swear that dog can count. Read more

how could you not respect anyone who can haul a 12 foot alligator out of a swamp, kill it, then drag its several hundreds of pounds into a boat.....but more than that.....this is a glimpse of a distinct culture....from a safe distance...they do love their knives...trust me on this.... I know...but they are a good hearted people if you take them for who they are...if you are urban oriented...check your bias at the door and look watch and you may learn something about them and yourself Read more

I enjoyed watching this TV series as it illustrates the lifestyle of local folks living in the Bayou. Some of the storylines get repitious so it may not be for everybody. Still, I enjoyed season 1 and will soon be watching season 2. Read more
