Works really well as a stand, the fold out legs are great. The spring loaded clip could be a little stronger, but it works. The jaws in that clip aren't wide enough for the tray tables in every airliner though. Every part of the seat back in the Airbus A380 I was in recently was either too thick or at too much of an angle for the clip to work. TLDR: the clamp works really well in the cases that it works at all. Doesn't always work. Still would recommend, as the base folding tripod mode always works well. Read more

I’m really impressed with this ULANZI airplane phone holder and tripod! It’s incredibly portable, small enough to throw in any bag or even a pocket, which makes it perfect for traveling, working on the go, or even taking quick photos or videos anywhere. Despite its compact size, the magnet is extremely strong. My phone didn’t feel too heavy for it at all, and it stayed securely in place whether I was using it on a desk, attached to a tray table on a flight, or holding it like a mini selfie stick. I ordered this specifically for using on the airplane on my recent trip (which it worked great for by the way) and it hasn't left my purse since my trip because I use it all the time! The clamp opens up pretty wide and holds very sturdy so you can use it on a variety of surfaces. The option to use it as a mantis mount is great as well. Of course it can also be used as a regular tripod. It folds up quite small so you can keep it in your purse, pocket etc, or use the magsafe mount as a clip to clip it onto your bag etc. Read more

This little tripod is amazingly small and folds up to be absolutely tiny. The three little feet have rubber on them to help grip the surface. The MagSafe holder is very strong especially with my MagSafe enabled case. You can attach the phone in portrait or landscape modes and once attached, you can spin the phone a full 360 degrees as well as tilt it 180 degrees. The real magic is when you fold it up, the back leg of the tripod has a spring loaded clip allowing you to clamp it to any surface like a desk, side of a shelf, and I imagine an airplane tray table (I don't have any flights in my immediate future so I cannot test this out). Also, there is a mantis mode where you use that clip to hang it off of any vertical surface with a top lip, like a computer display. The rear leg of the tripod hangs over the back of the display, the two feet gently touch the front of the display, and you tilt the phone accordingly. Be gentle when in this mode on a computer display as you don't want to push too hard on any liquid crystals. I am definitely adding this to my mobile gear as it fulfills several needs all at once. This little tripod is super convenient. I like that it can clamp to a table and that it uses a magnetic connection to the phone. It stands well in tripod configuration, and the head swivels nearly any direction I desire. I really like that the magnetic ring doubles as a carabiner hook. It feels good and secure when I attach to my camera bag. The magnet itself is strong enough to hold my phone securely. Overall a good functioning tripod. The clamp is a decent size, big enough to connect to my kitchen table, but not big enough to connect to my desk. My desktop is 1.25-inches thick. I now have this clamped to my camera studio overhead piping. It's fits nicely. Also, what they call Mantis Mode is kind of fun, slinging the tripod over the edge of a this edge, such as the top of my computer monitor. Overall, this is a decently sturdy little tripod. It is super versatile and convenient, very easy to use, and I like the compact size. I think it's well worth the price. Read more
